1.) London Rat Race 2008 Preview

Hello London Rat Fans. We know it’s only Spring but we thought we’d give you a little snippet of what’s in store for your capital caper on the streets of London Town this September. The course for this year is looking tip top. It’s kind of a conundrum having to keep it a secret from you at this stage, yet trying to tell you something about it!! Still, here goes…hot off the press from Nick Gracie, our Old Smoke purveyor of planning….

“It’s hard to top our first outing in London. In the 2007 event we rode through beautiful parks, lobbed ourselves down a massive abseil at Twickers, gorged ourselves silly on jellied eels, did a spot of “3D” nav onboard HMS Belfast and got the glow-sticks out at the Ministry of Sound. All that, washed down with a nice pint of Fuller’s Discovery in our Beer tent at the event village next to Tower Bridge. So what’s in store for this year? Well, we’re back at Tower Bridge which means we could literally go north, south, east or west. I’m not telling you where…only that we are going OUT THERE with the course this year. We can promise at least as many thrills and spills as the ’07 outing and much more besides. Planning this behemoth is a mighty mission and I am not alone in this task…..the full might of the Detail Events machine is bearing down on the adventure to be unleashed this year in London. Expect big ropes, funny food, mighty morsels of adventure and chunky chapters of fun and games. We’ve got a lot up our sleeve and this sleeping giant is one metropolitan playground that is going to excite and surprise once more…”

2.) ACE Race offer for London Racers – Ideal training event on 10th May 2008 near London!

OK so maybe you’ve entered the race. You’ve read our (cryptic) update and you might even be trying to convince others to join you. The training has started, or maybe it hasn’t, or maybe you’ve not even dragged yourself out of that long winter hibernation yet….well Spring is in the air and we have a great deal for you at the upcoming ACE Race in Sussex next month. The ACE Race 1 day events pack 5 hours of running, biking, team challenges and map-work into a sunny Saturday. All maps are provided and all you need is your bike and your bonce. We give you a special edition ACE Races Buff, you get to race on your own, as a pair or as a team of 3, Rat Race-style. It’s an ideal training outing for you and your team in the beautiful Pippingford Estate at the heart of mighty and ancient Ashdown Forest, Sussex. A mere hop, skip and a jump outside the M25, why not join us there and brush out some of those cobwebs! All the info on how to enter and what it’s all about can be found at www.aceraces.com. There’s 2 more ACE 1 day events throughout the summer at Bracknell on the 12th July and on the South Downs on 30th August and if you make a Series of it, you get more money off!
