While the Rat Racers are prepping and sweating it out over the weekend of 17/18th June, there’ll be non-stop fun and entertainments for the rest of us mortals content to enjoy the extreme and action sports from the comfort of the funkiest Event Village to date.
THE RAT RACE BRISTOL EVENT VILLAGE
Rat Racers, friends, families and fans can come and experience what goes on in an all-action urban adventure.. from the entertaining comfort zone of the event village. While non-participants enjoy drinkjng their smoothies and beers, climbing up the Geronimo tower, shopping at Ellis Brigham and other cool stores, watching the live battle of the bands (featuring 3D, Macgyver, Ill System, The Sketch) and action sports demos onstage, the Rat Racers can bask in the glory of being one of the action-heroes cavorting around the rest of the city and getting cheered in to the finish line on the Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. The event village is for everyone’s enjoyment and convenience so we have:
Ellis Brigham Outdoor Store: ready and waiting with all the last minute kit requirements that Rat Racers may have forgotten, or great kit that you suddenly realise you always “needed”. Last year loads of happy punters were clamouring for best bargains so get in their early. NB There will also be Columbia Sportswear and Rat Race merchandise on sale at other stores.
CancerBACKUP Massage Tent: hosted by sports massage therapists, volunteering their services for charity. Competitors pay the discounted rate of £5 per sports massage and everyone else pay £10 for the 20 minute luxury therapeutic experience. What makes this feel even better is that ALL the money spent goes towards CancerBACKUP, a great charity.
Smoothie Bar and Beer Tent: Vitamin boost or whetting your whistle, get in there!
Big Hand: ska-band sensation who took the Edinburgh Rat Race by storm, entertaining competitors and the crowds… are back by popular demand to kick start Rat Race 06 entertainments. Enjoy!!
