MANCHESTER RATS HAVE RACED!

And so the Rat Race Urban Adventure Series of 2006 comes to a close in Manchester. Just when racers thought things couldn’t get any more bonkers and bizarre, some cult checkpoints thrown into the race will have people talking for ages about another classic Rat Race. As far as hair brained schemes go, this one was certainly up there!
Navigating around Manchester on foot, bike and kayak, visiting places where ancient history mixed with new technology, competitors took on choppers and the chop, poledancing, cocktail making, abseiling, climbing and canals, as well as some of the Hollyoaks cast, while finishing the race off with an epic zip slide into the event village at Piccadilly Gardens.
Team Accelerate lived up to their name and went one better than in Edinburgh, this time taking 1st place after an awesome prologue performance where they cleared the course in less than 2 hours. Edinburgh winners Sleepmonsters.com went fastest on Sunday but it wasn’t enough for them to overcome Accelerate or Superfeet who took the top 2 positions, but it did give them the overall series title and a trip to Interlaken for the Powerade Games courtesy of Columbia.
