Shane Ohly – Course Planner

Your planning host in Birmingham will be Shane Ohly – climbing nut, extreme fell runner, adventure addict and general man about town out on the tiles down Broad Street! He is the planner for this inaugural Rat Race event and he is working away with the Rat Race crew to uncover the very best adventures available in Brum. Shane is actually in a river under Spaghetti Junction as we write this about him - now that's exploration dedication, and he and Gary Tompsett have already uncovered some adventure madness hitherto untapped in the big Brummie conurbation.

Gary Tompsett – Race Director

Gary is the Granddaddy of Rat Racing – he was there at the beginning and will be there at the end – of your race, that is, not “the World.” He is without doubt a callous man, working up schemes that will make your knees tremble, your eyes pop out of your sockets and your bum very, very sore. He is the definitive Rat Race event planner and will be on the whistle for the Start of the event, seeing you off in style and welcoming you back in after 8 hours of adventure. You might see him on the course but if you do, resist the urge to thank him for what a great time you are having…you just never know what’s around the corner lying in wait for you at the next challenge!

The company behind the Rat Race is always there, keeping the loos stocked with bog roll, the music rolling and preventing the registration desks from collapsing under the sheer weight of competitors! It’s a great job though and we love it – who wouldn’t? We will all be there and will be working 24-7 to bring you another superb event in Brum. We can’t wait – we hope you’ll join us!
